A political analyst says that Israel is seeking to receive more US military aid because of the Zionists’ influence in the Congress.

“I think that the Zionists’ influence in the Congress is such that the Israelis actually say why not get more if we can get more and they know they can rely on good number of congressmen and senators to accommodate them,” Lawrence Davidson told Press TV on Thursday.

“It’s really a matter of greed,” Davidson, who is professor of History at West Chester University, added.

He also noted that “they are so overconfident” that they can influence the US government for what they want that they do not think the situation can change.

A report said US and Israeli officials are discussing a surge in the US military aid to Israel as the two sides are in negotiations over a new 10-year military aid package.

Under an existing aid agreement between Washington and Tel Aviv signed in 2007, $30 billion of American taxpayers’ money is currently flowing to Israel.

According to Defense News, the new package would extend through 2027 and would focus on “a full spectrum of Israeli concerns, including military modernization needs, new threats from regional instability and the erosion of Israel’s so-called qualitative military edge (QME) due to US arms sales in the Mideast.”
