In a speech at memorial service for one of the martyrs of Hezbollah in the southern Lebanese village of Shahabiyeh, Hujjat al-Islam Nabil Qawouq, the vice-president of the Executive Council of Hezbollah, said the Lebanese people have no way to solve their current problems except through accepting the fair and active participation of all groups in the internal administration of the country, especially with regard to major crises that Lebanon is grappling with.

Lebanon has been without a president for more than two years.

The Lebanese Shi’a cleric added that today, there is a real opportunity for the Lebanon to solve its current crises and the situation is such that this opportunity should not be missed. The Lebanese people should know that the continuation of the crises in Lebanon and the presidential vacuum is due to internal conflicts among the Saudis and as a result, Lebanon is paying the price.

“The only solution to save the country is to reach an agreement to protect Lebanon and does not allow Lebanon to be victims of Saudi Arabia’s internal conflicts,” he stressed.

According to Rasa, Hujjat al-Islam Qawouq said Lebanon is witnessing the negative consequences emanating from Saudi Arabia’s position on the issue of Lebanon’s presidency and in the meantime, Hezbollah’s wise position not to participate in a recent government meeting so that the possibility of resolving the crisis is still possible.

He added that developments on the battlefield in Syria also show that the war in Syria is not a sectarian war between Sunnis and Shi’as but that it is a political conflict because Syria was and is in a position of strength.

The senior Hezbollah official added that it was for this reason that the enemies sought to change the position of Syria toward the Islamic Resistance [Hezbollah] by attacking the country and overthrowing the government of Bashar al-Asad. “After five years, Syria is becoming more victorious every day and Saudi Arabia will not achieve anything except failure and regret,” he emphasized.

Hujjat al-Islam Qawouq said that Saudi Arabia has declared a direct war on Muslims without a mask, has engaged in destroying Yemen, interfering in Bahrain and is fueling the fire in Syria. “Saudi Arabia spends more money on weapons than any country in the Arab and Muslim world on armaments which flushes any argument on their generosity and moderation down the drain and their grants, conferences and various operations to beautify themselves are now stained with the blood of the children of Yemen, Iraq and Syria,” he said.
