The Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and their allies launched a new assault in the Hama Governorate’s eastern countryside on Saturday afternoon, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s defensive positions at the villages of Madajin and Al-Rabayah.

Jabhat Al-Nusra began the assault by storming the Syrian Arab Army’s defenses at the Madajin checkpoint; however, they were unable to seize this important site outside the main village, despite outnumbering the government soldiers. Following the failed assault on Madajin, the Jabhat Al-Nusra terrorists shifted their attention to Al-Rabayah, where they once again tried to advance against the Syrian Armed Forces; this assault would also be repelled by the government forces.

Both of Jabhat Al-Nusra’s attacks on Madajin and Al-Rabayah ended in failure, leaving a confirmed 22 of their militants dead in the process. According to a military source in the Al-Salamiyah District, the Syrian Arab Army’s 47th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division reported that 6 soldiers were killed-in-action (KIA) and 3 others were wounded.
