A sit-in tent outside the Netherlands parliament to mark Nakba

The Palestinians in the Netherlands commemorated the 64th anniversary of the Nakba in a sit-in tent outside the Parliament in The Hague, highlighting the prisoners’ issue and their suffering in the Zionist occupation’s jails, celebrating simultaneously the victory of the prisoners, who finally achieved their humanitarian demands after striking for twenty-eight days.

Adnan Abu Adas, a member in the Board of Trustees at the Palestinian house, an assembly of Palestinian activists from all affiliations, said in a press release: “The Palestinians in the Netherlands who commemorated, on Tuesday, the Nakba anniversary were showing a strong determination to achieve their right to return to their home (from which they have been displaced sixty-four years ago), more than ever before.”

Abu Adass stressed on the need to start preparing for practical steps to achieve return, pointing out to the adherence of Palestinians in the Diaspora to their right and their readiness to sacrifice their life to regain it.

Abu Adas said that the sit-in tent, pitched outside the parliament in The Hague, was displaying pictures about the Nakba, the displacement of Palestinians and their strong adherence to their right to return to their villages destroyed by the occupier.

He also pointed out that during the event, many activities will be held to draw the attention of Parliament and the Dutch society to the suffering of the Palestinian people, particularly prisoners, under the occupation since more than six decades. The tent was displaying a model of solitary confinement in the occupation’s prisons and models of handcuffed Palestinian prisoners.

In addition, Abu Adas said that the activists in the event distributed leaflets, aiming at drawing the Parliament’s visitors and the MPs’ attention, stressing that the Dutch citizens, during their visit to the protest tent, were showing a great sympathy towards Palestinians.

It is noted that the Palestinian house assembly announced that, in cooperation with the Dutch Friendship society, the Palestinian community Association and the Palestinian Return Association, it will organize a conference to commemorate the anniversary of the Nakba and to highlight the Palestinian prisoners’ issue, on the nineteenth of May, with the participation Dries van Agt former PM of the Netherlands.
