Latest battle update from Deir Ezzor: map

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) had a very successful 48 hours over the weekend, liberating several areas that were previously occupied by ISIS in the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

To begin the weekend, the Syrian Arab Army’s elite Tiger Forces liberated the strategic it Al-Mayadeen, which has served as the Islamic State’s de facto capital for several months.

Following the liberation of Al-Mayadeen, the Syrian Arab Army captured several towns under the Islamic State’s control near the provincial capital, including Al-Salahiyah and Al-Husseiniyeh.

On Sunday, the Syrian Arab Army’s Tiger Forces continued their advance near Al-Mayadeen, liberating new areas surrounding this imperative city.

With Al-Mayadeen liberated, the Syrian Arab Army will now shift their attention to the provincial capital, where they hope to clear the last areas under ISIS’ control.
