Premier: Salary raise for state employees evidence of robust Syrian economy

20130623-191923Syrian Prime Minister, Dr. Wael al-Halqi said that the salaries increase for state workers and retired employees amid economic strains is a new evidence that the Syrian economy is robust.

During his meeting on Sunday with MPs representing Hama governorate, al-Halqi said the government works to improve the living conditions for all citizens and increase relief aid to the families affected by the current crisis, affirming the government’s keenness on enhancing partnership between legislative and executive authorities.

Al-Halqi said the Syrian army will go ahead with carrying out national duties in pursuing terrorists until restoring security and stability all over Syria, adding that ”the government won’t allow one single terrorist on the Syrian land.”

Premier al-Halqi added that the Syrian people are determined to make the forthcoming national dialogue conference a success through implementing the political program for solving the crisis.

Al-Halqi reviewed the economic and service situation, hailing the Syrian people’s and government’s steadfastness in the face of challenges.

The meeting also dealt with the government’s measures to preserve stability of the SYP exchange rate against foreign currency, stressing that the government is pushing ahead with the disbursement of compensation to the affected in all areas.

The MPs expressed interest in achieving security and stability, rejection of extremism, and commitment to national firm principles.

They also lauded the sacrifices of the Syrian army for foiling the conspiracy targeting Syria.

Al-Halqi denounces terrorist bombings in Damascus

Premier al-Halqi denounced the terrorist bombings which took place in Damascus on Sunday and claimed several lives, asserting that such cowardly acts won’t dissuade Syrians from ensuring the success of the upcoming national dialogue conference.

This came during a meeting between the ministerial committee for implementing the political program for resolving the crisis in Syria with a delegation from the Solidarity Party headed by its secretary general Mohammad Abu al-Qasem.

Al-Halqi stressed the importance of active national dialogue among all spectrums of the Syrian society, underlining the positive results of the committee’s previous meetings and the role of political parties in bolstering the culture of dialogue and rejecting violence and Takfiri mentality.

He extended his best wishes to the Solidarity Party, hoping that it will make further progress in political, social and cultural work alongside other national parties.

The Prime Minister also decried the arming and funding of terrorist groups and mercenaries by some Arab and western countries with the aim of destroying the Syrian state, asserting that such attempts are doomed to fail.

For his part, Abu al-Qasem voiced his party’s support for the political program for resolving the crisis in Syria, while members of the party offered opinions on means to ensure the upcoming national dialogue conference and underlined the need to give attention to youths and protect them from cultural invasion.

Discussions during the meeting tackled various issues and ideas related to national dialogue, distributing humanitarian aid, resolving the issue of abductees and detainees, combating corruption, and methods for dealing with the rising prices of goods.
