5th Islamic Radios, TVs Summit opens Sept 25

Fifth General Assembly of the Union of Islamic Radios and Televisions will be held here from September 25-28, concurrent with the Third Islamic Film Market.

Secretary General of the union, Ali Karimian told IRNA that the Third Festival of Union Members’ Products and Second Exhibition on Media Equipment will also be organized concurrent with the general assembly.

The event will be attended by 200 members of the union from 32 countries, he noted.

Given the role of media in covering the news on Islamic awakening, the upcoming round of the event will be held with the motto of ‘Islamic Media, Voice of Justice and Awakening’, Karimian said.

The three-day event will deal with the role of Islamic media in Islamic awakening, Islamic media’s attention to non-Muslim audience and significance of virtual space.

Karimian further stated that three specialized commissions on TV, radio and institutes of media services, unveiling books on Islamic media and lectures by the Islamic thinkers are among various sections of the summit.

The Third Film Market will feature 700 works by 90 participating member states, he noted.

Preparing grounds for cooperation, holding Islamic film market, commissioning production cooperative fund, holding competitive festivals, setting up an institute for organizing programs and services of member states, training manpower and holding specialized meetings are among the activities of the union, he said.

Secretary of the summit, Ebrahim Ali Barzi also said that some 352 works by 25 TV networks and 216 works by 42 radio networks have been submitted to the Festival of the Islamic Radios, TVs Products.
