Tens of thousands of Palestinians performed the Friday prayer at the Aqsa Mosque, amid tight Israeli security measures in Occupied Jerusalem. In his Friday khutba (sermon), Sheikh Yousef Abu Asnaineh highlighted the issue of the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and called for more popular pressure on the Israeli occupation to force it into releasing prisoners.

Sheikh Abu Asnaineh also urged the Palestinian officials to immediately move to save the lives of prisoners in Israeli jails. Outside the Aqsa Mosque, the Israeli police imposed restrictions on the entry of Palestinians, which forced some of them to listen to the khutba and pray at its gates.

According to Quds Press, more than 60,000 thousands Palestinians, including elderly citizens from Gaza, observed the Friday prayer at the Aqsa Mosque. Following the prayer, a group of citizens staged a sit-in in solidarity with prisoner Mohamed al-Qeiq, who has been on hunger strike for 80 days in protest at his administrative detention
