Zionist Israeli soldier injures Gazan boy

A Palestinian teenage boy has been wounded after Israeli soldiers stationed near the Gaza border opened fire in the direction of the coastal strip, medics and witnesses said.

Local medical sources said the 16-year-old boy was shot in his left leg while collecting scrap metal in the Juhor ad-Dik area southeast of Gaza City on Monday.

He was taken to a local hospital in Gaza City where medics said his injuries were moderate.

Palestinian workers collecting stones and other construction materials along the buffer zone in north and eastern Gaza are frequently targeted by Zionist Israeli soldiers.

Due to a crippling Israeli blockade, Gazans have no other choice but to obtain the required material for construction work from other buildings that have been destroyed in Israeli attacks.

Defense for Children International documented 14 cases between March and October 2010 of Palestinian youths under the age of 18 who were shot by Israeli forces while collecting gravel in the border zone.

The youngest of these children was 13 and the oldest 17.

Meanwhile, Palestinian security sources have announced that Israeli soldiers have stormed several Palestinian homes in the West Bank towns of Ramallah, Bethlehem, and Nablus, arresting six Palestinians, Xinhua reported.

The Zionist Israeli army said that the six detained Palestinians were on the wanted list of Zionist Israeli security forces and that they have been taken for interrogation. So far, there has been no information suggesting their possible affiliation to any Palestinian group.
