Iran arrests terrorist group in West Azarbaijan

Iran’s Intelligence Ministry has arrested an extremist terrorist and criminal group active in West Azarbaijan Province.

A group comprising of extremist and criminal individuals, who carried out acts of terror through misusing the beliefs of the youth, were arrested in coordination with judicial officials, said the ministry on Saturday.

It added that the members of the group had killed a Sunni cleric and a bank guard last year and said they were planning to carry out more attacks on civilians.

The Iranian police confiscated a number of weapons and ammunition from the members of the group.
