West promotes Iranophobia to find new markets for arms: Iran MP

shamseddin20130323124020660An Iranian lawmaker says the West’s Iranophobic propaganda campaign against the Islamic Republic is aimed at finding new markets for Western weapons in the region.

“Through [promoting] Iranophobia, the West is marketing its weapons in the region,” Abbasali Mansouri-Arani, a member of Iran Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said on Saturday.

“Faced with Iran’s [successful] strategy, the West is trying to make regional countries fearful of Iran to not only sell its arms, but also keep these countries under its domination,” the Iranian lawmaker explained.

The parliamentarian denounced some Western governments for their ballyhoo over Iran’s recent military maneuvers, stressing the deterrent nature of the drills.

He described the maneuvers as part of the Iranian military’s training and annual programs aimed at boosting the country’s essential military prowess, and test-firing new weaponry.

“The armed forces of Iran are quite capable of maintaining security in this strategic region, and this…requires Iran to beef up its military power,” Mansouri Arani stated.
