Prominent Lawyer: US Admitting Defeat in Syria

The recent change in Washington’s Syria policy means the US defeat and failure in its war on Damascus, Head of Syrian Lawyers Association Nazar Sakif told FNA on Tuesday.
“The recent statements of the US officials are tantamount to clear acknowledgment of defeat in the war against Syria,” Sakif said.
“If the US says that it wants to protect and preserve Syria’s institutions, it means that it wants the presidential office to stay at the head,” he added.
Sakif noted the change in the US tone of speech indicates that Washington is seeking compromise and will soon declare its agreement with Damascus.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.
Thousands of people, including members of the security forces, were killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes.
The government blamed outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.
Tel Aviv, Washington, Ankara and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots to topple President Bashar al-Assad, who is well known in the world for his anti-Israeli stances.
