Thousands march in New York against US police violence

Thousands of demonstrators gathered in New York, protesting the recent shooting deaths of unarmed black men by police in recent months.
The nationwide protests have been organized by the Stop Mass Incarceration Network, with the aim of disrupting business as usual and declaring it a day of national shutdowns to shed light on police brutality.
Activists, organizers and protestors in New York were joined by family members of the victims of police shootings.
Similar events like the one held here in New York took place in more than a dozen cities across the country throughout the day, protestors say they will continue to take to the streets until their voices are heard.
