Arba’een mourning ceremonies held in presence of the Leader of the Islamic Ummah Imam Khamenei

The Leader of the Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, and a group of university lecturers, researchers and students have attended Arba’een mourning ceremonies at the Hosseiniyeh of Imam Khomeini in Tehran.
Today, Wednesday 2nd December 2015, corresponding to 20th of Saffar 1437 A.H. on the Islamic lunar calendar, is the day of Arba’een, which marks 40 days after the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), and members of his family and loyal companions (AS).
The Chief of martyrs, Imam Hussein (AS), along with members of his household and loyal companions (AS) were martyred on the 10th of Moharram in the year 61 A,H. in the desert of Karbala in Iraq, in defense of Islam, and in opposition to tyranny and corruption.
