Syrian Army overwhelms ISIS at large Deir Ezzor island, 20+ terrorists killed

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) resumed their field operations near the provincial capital of Deir Ezzor, today, striking the Islamic State’s (ISIS) positions at the large island of Hawijat Qati.

Backed by Russian airstrikes, the Syrian Arab Army’s Tiger Forces and 4th Division stormed the Islamic State’s positions at this large island.

Within hours of launching this attack, the Syrian Arab Army managed to liberate a large chunk of the island, leaving the Islamic State trapped at the northern part of Hawijat Qati.

According to a military source in Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Arab Army killed more than 20 terrorists during today’s operation, including several foreign combatants that refused to surrender.

The Syrian Army has repeatedly demanded the Islamic State surrender the island, but the terrorist group continues to reject terms offered by the former.
