Video- Occupy London going on with hundreds remained camped

In the shadow of one of Britain’s most famous landmarks, protestors continue to hold their ground. Encamped outside St Paul’s Cathedral, hundreds have spent the last few nights as part of a movement to occupy London’s financial district following a mass rally on Saturday.

The initial excitement of the weekend is over. Some Protestors have left to return to work while others have taken their place, and have set up camp for the long haul. The number of tents here is growing and protestors are organising themselves into committees to plan their actions.

Kim is a 29 year old music promoter from the city of Brighton. He’s spent the night camping outside in the cold, in protest against what he sees as a system weighted against the people.

Kim is keen to stress that there are a diverse range of opinions here at the occupy London protest, and that his is just one of many voices. But he says the diversity is also a source of strength.

Much of the anger at these protests has been directed at the banking system and corporate greed. Protestors believe the public is being penalised for the mistakes of the ruling classes. But Kim’s views may differ from some of his fellow protestors, when he says the politicians, not the bankers, are responsible.

The government has said the protest camp isn’t the solution to the crisis the country faces, and its austerity programme is the way forward. But what unites everyone here is the desire for a change in governance. But they want real change for the betterment of society, and not just the rhetoric of change.
