Iran’s interim Foreign Minister states that the U.S. is complicit in ‘israeli’ actions in Gaza and cannot act as an impartial mediator.
Iran’s acting Foreign Minister, Ali Bagheri Kani, has accused the United States of supporting the Zionist regime in committing genocidal acts against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. He emphasized that the U.S. cannot act as a neutral mediator because it is hindering initiatives to implement a ceasefire in the region.

“By openly supporting the actions of Zionists, the United States has demonstrated its involvement and shown it cannot serve as an unbiased mediator. It continually obstructs efforts to cease the occupying regime’s brutal actions and encourages the Zionists to persist with their genocidal acts,” Bagheri Kani stated during a phone call with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on Saturday evening.
He emphasized that the Israeli regime is committing severe injustices in Gaza while simultaneously engaging in hypocrisy and deception during negotiations intended to establish a ceasefire in the blockaded area.
In response to the Israeli assassination of Hamas’ political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, Iran’s top diplomat declared that the Islamic Republic retains the fundamental and lawful right to retaliate against this act.
Bagheri Kani emphasized that, due to their remarkable bravery, Palestinians will not capitulate to the Zionist regime.
Haniyeh, who had traveled to Tehran for the inauguration of Iran’s newly-elected President Masoud Pezeshkian, was killed along with his bodyguard in an attack that took place early on July 31. He was among several leaders of the Axis of Resistance present at the ceremony.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, has cautioned the Israeli regime that it will face a “severe retaliation” for the assassination of Haniyeh. He emphasized that it is the Islamic Republic’s responsibility to seek retribution for the death of the Palestinian resistance leader.
“The criminal and terrorist Zionist regime took the life of our beloved guest on our own soil, leaving us in mourning. However, this act has also paved the way for severe repercussions for them,” the Leader stated.
Abdelatty highlighted the multi-party talks taking place in Cairo aimed at securing a ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing that Egypt is dedicated to aiding Palestinians and halting the Zionist actions in Gaza without delay.
He voiced his concern about the critical shortages of food and medicine in the Gaza Strip and the spread of numerous infectious diseases, stressing the need for a unified international response to swiftly implement a ceasefire in Gaza.
Cairo is scheduled to host the upcoming series of indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas, following recent promising discussions in Doha mediated by officials from the United States, Egypt, and Qatar.
On October 7, Israel initiated an assault on Gaza following a surprise offensive dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas. This operation was in retaliation to the Israeli regime’s prolonged period of violence and destruction against the Palestinian people.
The regime’s violent attack on Gaza has resulted in over 40,000 Palestinian deaths, primarily among women and children, with tens of thousands more injured. Additionally, thousands are unaccounted for and feared dead beneath the debris.
