A report by Amnesty International has determined that the military actions of the Israeli state in Gaza meet the legal criteria for genocide. The organization described its findings as a “wake-up call” for the international community, urging a renewed focus on human rights issues in the region.
A report released on Thursday, titled “You Feel Like You Are Subhuman: Israel’s Genocide Against Palestinians in Gaza,” has been published by Amnesty International.
A rights organization headquartered in London has reported its conclusions, which are derived from what it describes as “dehumanizing and genocidal statements” made by Israeli government and military authorities. The group’s findings also incorporate evidence from satellite imagery showing extensive destruction, alongside field investigations and on-the-ground reports from residents of Gaza.
Amnesty International has concluded an in-depth investigation spanning several months, comprising comprehensive witness interviews, examination of “visual and digital evidence,” such as satellite imagery, and scrutinizing remarks from high-ranking Israeli governmental and military figures.
Amnesty International’s Secretary General, Agnes Callamard, issued a statement condemning Israel’s treatment of Palestinians in Gaza. She accused Israel of systematically undermining the human rights and dignity of Palestinians, suggesting that such actions reflect an intention to eliminate them physically.
“Our findings are a dire warning to the international community: this constitutes genocide and must be halted immediately,” she stated.

Amnesty International has accused the Israeli military of violating provisions of the 1948 Genocide Convention, citing at least three of the five prohibited acts. These alleged actions include indiscriminate killings of civilians, inflicting serious physical or mental harm, and deliberately creating living conditions in Gaza intended to bring about the destruction of its Palestinian population.
A recent statement by Callamard asserts that extensive research indicates Israel has been engaged in actions described as genocidal against Palestinians in Gaza for several months, with full awareness of the severe and lasting damage being caused.
She further stated that Israel persisted in its actions despite numerous warnings regarding the dire humanitarian conditions and legally binding directives from the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which ordered Israel to take urgent steps to facilitate humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.
