Pakistani Defense Minister Criticizes Western Nations for Double Standards on Iran

Pakistan's Defense Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, has expressed criticism toward Western nations, accusing them of exhibiting a "double standard" in their policies toward Iran. He specifically pointed out what he perceives as hypocrisy and a selective approach by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) when engaging with Tehran.

In an exclusive interview on Tuesday, statements were made condemning the recent US and Israeli attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, labelling them as violations of international law and the UN Charter.

He stated that, in contrast to Iran, Western countries have undermined diplomatic opportunities and are responsible for initiating the hostilities of the Zionist regime and the United States.

Asif stated that Iran has consistently been open to dialogue, whereas the United States and Israel have heightened tensions. “The Iranians have never left the negotiating table,” he remarked, citing recent diplomatic initiatives by Tehran aimed at resolving a conflict related to its nuclear program.

He condemned Israel for launching “illegitimate aggression” towards Iran and criticized Western nations for not holding the regime accountable. He stated, “It is absurd that the West consistently urges Iran back to the negotiating table, given that the Iranians never left.”

The minister criticized the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for what he described as a biased position, especially in relation to Israel’s nuclear activities. He pointed out that Israel, which is not a signatory of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), operates with impunity and possesses the authority to conduct any aggressive actions it desires.

Asif attributed the recent regional tensions to what he described as a larger “Zionist conspiracy,” emphasizing that Israel aims to create instability in surrounding Muslim nations. He stated, “They have reached a point where they can disregard all international laws, human values, and traditions.”

In a message directed at Iran, Asif conveyed a message of solidarity, urging the Iranian people to remain resolute and steadfast, assuring them of divine support.
