Iran Condemns German Backing of US and ‘israeli’ Hostilities as ‘Malicious’
Iran has refuted Germany's criticism concerning its nuclear program and collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Tehran criticized Berlin for allegedly supporting unlawful strikes on its nuclear installations and for hindering diplomatic initiatives.

In a recent statement on social media platform X, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s dedication to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and its Safeguards Agreement. Araghchi indicated that any forthcoming collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) would be governed by the Supreme National Security Council due to “safety and security reasons.”
This development comes in the wake of a recent act of unprovoked aggression on Iranian nuclear sites, orchestrated by Israel and the United States. In response, Tehran has decided to halt its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, following a parliamentary vote.
The German Foreign Office on Wednesday expressed grave concerns over Iran’s decision to suspend direct cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), stating that the move “sends a devastating message” and eliminates vital international oversight critical for a diplomatic resolution. The office urged Tehran to reconsider and reverse its decision.
Araghchi categorically rejected the statements, labeling them as “fake news,” and affirmed Iran’s continued commitment to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and its Safeguards Agreement.
The new legislation from Iran’s Majlis, prompted by alleged illicit assaults on its nuclear sites by Israel and the United States, dictates that Iran’s collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency will now be managed via the Supreme National Security Council. This move is cited as necessary for clear safety and security considerations, according to the official’s statement.
Araghchi elaborated on the factors that “convey a severe message” to the Iranian people and undermine “the prospects for a diplomatic resolution.”
The Iranian foreign minister sharply criticized Germany for its overt backing of what was described as Israel’s unlawful aggression against Iran, including safeguarded nuclear facilities. This move was denounced as “dirty work” executed on behalf of Western interests.
The statement referred to was in connection with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s support for Israel’s airstrikes on Iran, as expressed during an interview with the ZDF broadcaster. Merz characterized these actions as “the dirty work that Israel is doing for all of us.”
Germany disgracefully backed the unauthorized US assault on Iranian nuclear facilities, a move that contravened international law, the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), and the UN Charter, according to a statement by Araghchi.
Germany’s unequivocal endorsement of the bombing of Iran has erased any perception that the German government holds anything other than hostility towards Iranians.
Araghchi remarked that Germany’s decision to withdraw from its obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action by insisting on zero uranium enrichment represents a clear effort to sabotage diplomatic efforts.
Germany, France, and the United Kingdom are signatories of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), commonly referred to as the Iran nuclear deal, which permits Iran to persist in its uranium enrichment activities.
Araghchi brought attention to Germany’s historical role during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, under the regime of former dictator Saddam Hussein, highlighting its provision of materials that were subsequently utilized in chemical weapons attacks on Iran.
He stated that Iranians had already been disheartened by Germany’s alleged support resembling Nazi-style for actions in Gaza and its assistance to Saddam’s conflict with Iran by supplying materials for chemical weapons.
