Kandahar University bomb blast kills 7, injures 23

At least seven people have been killed and 23 others have been injured in a bomb blast outside the Kandahar University in southern Afghanistan.

The incident happened when a car packed with explosives exploded near the entrance to the university campus in the Kandahar Province.

“The incident took place at the gate of the Kandahar University in which seven civilians were killed and 23 others were injured,” said Javed Faisal, a spokesman for the provincial governor.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack and it is not yet clear if university students were among the victims.

Earlier this week, a roadside bomb struck a bus in the Ghazni Province, killing at least five passengers and wounding 11 others.

The incident occurred along the road near the Ghazni city on Sunday when the bus was travelling from Kabul to the city of Kandahar in the southeast.

Insecurity continues to rise across Afghanistan, despite the presence of about 130,000 US-led forces in the war-torn country.

The US-led war in Afghanistan, with civilian and military casualties at record highs, has become the longest military conflict in the American history.
