Iran plans to establish embassy in Myanmar

Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has said that Iran plans to establish an embassy in Myanmar to help resolve the problems facing Muslims in this country.

Salehi made the remarks in Tehran on Sunday during a press conference when asked about the Foreign Ministry’s stance toward the killing of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

“We have been in talks with Myanmar’s officials and plan to establish our embassy in this country. We believe that the establishment of an embassy can help strengthen political relations between the two countries and that, through the measure, we can take an effective step to help resolve the problems of the Muslim people of Myanmar through cooperation with the country’s government,” he stated.
