On Monday, 15 October 2012, the president of Syrian Arab Republic, Bashar al-Assad, has issued a presidential decree to form a committee that’s responsible for the maintenance of Omayyad Mosque in Aleppo.
The committee will be headed by the Gvernor of Aleppo, Muhammad Wahid Akkad.
The deadline of finishing the Great Mosque’s maintenance will be in 31-12-2013
