The foreign ministers of Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan are set to hold a meeting to discuss issues of common interest to the three countries.
In a statement released on Monday, Turkey’s Foreign Ministry said the meeting would be held in the eastern Turkish province of Erzurum on November 28.
Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and his Turkish and Azerbaijani counterparts, Ahmet Davutoglu and Elmar Mammadyarov respectively, are scheduled to discuss issues of common interest to the three countries in the trilateral meeting.
The first tripartite meeting between the foreign ministers of Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan was held in the northwestern Iranian city of Orumiyeh in April 2011.
Following the first meeting, Salehi said the three countries had agreed to expand “cooperation with other regional countries and serve peace and stability in the region” in order to “help establish and guarantee peace and stability.”
A second meeting was held in the Azeri city of Nakhichevan in order to discuss tripartite cooperation between the neighboring countries in the fields of energy, transportation and trade as well as a joint campaign against terrorism, smuggling and organized crime.
Iran attaches particular significance to enhancing ties with neighboring countries based on mutual respect and good neighborly relations.
