Speaker of Council of Representatives of Iraq, Usama al-Najafi, has met and conferred with the officials of the democratically elected Palestinian government in Gaza Strip about different topics of importance.
According to IRIB World Service, the Iraqi speaker arrived in Gaza on Monday in the company of a parliamentary delegation and was welcomed by the Palestinian Parliament’s Vice-Speaker, Ahmad Bahr.
The Iraqi senior parliamentarian also met and conferred with the democratically elected Palestinian Premier, Ismail Hanieh, on Monday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi parliament speaker pointed out that the goal of his visit to Gaza Strip has been to sympathize with Palestinian people and to assist Gazans.
Hanieh, for his part, lauded the visit of the Iraqi delegation to the city of Gaza, and highly welcomed this visit.
