Chavez lauds army’s steadfastness
In a message addressing the military forces, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has saluted his country’s military and acknowledged their stalwart support for Caracas.
According to AFP, the message read by Vice-President Nicolas Maduro during a military event in eastern Venezuela said that “We now inherited our paternal soil, enjoying a socialist, revolutionary and anti-imperialist steadfast military.”
The president in the message underlined complete faith in the commitment and loyalty that the revolutionary armed forces in this very complicated and difficult moment.
Chavez, 58, has undergone his fourth cancer-related surgery in Havana, Cuba, on December 11.
God willing, Chavez will be back in time for his scheduled January 10 inauguration for a new six-year term.
