“Imam Hussein (AS) rose for humanity.” Sunni cleric

Director of Sunni seminary in Northern Khorasan Province praised the high character of Imam Hussein (As) as a pious figure who rose for humanity and making reform in the Muslim community.

Ghafour Aknoond Yazdani, manager of Al Azhar Seminary in Jargalan, Northern Khorasan Province, in an exclusive interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) highlighted the respect of the Sunni community for Ahlul Bayt (household of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)), particularly Imam Hussein (AS) as the axis of unity among Muslims.

He counted purification of Islam from deviations as the objective behind the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS) against the tyrant rulers of the time and said,” This great deed guaranteed the immortality of Islam throughout history.”

He lauded third Shia Imam as an everlasting example in the minds of the Muslims and added,” Similar to Qur’an, which is valuable for the people in all times, Imam Hussein (AS) and days of Ashura (the day Imam Hussein (AS) was martyred), Tasua (martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) companions) and Arbaeen (40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS)) will never fade from the minds of the people.”

This Sunni religious figure stressed the importance of foiling the plots of the enemies and noted,” The enemies have targeted Islam; therefore, Muslims across the world are recommended to follow the example of Imam Hussein (AS) to defend Islam and spread Islamic unity.”

According to this scholar realization of Islamic unity is feasible in the light of Qur’anic teachings, following the guidelines of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and learning the lessons of Ashura event.

Ghafour Akhoond Yazdani concluded,” Unity is the key factor for resistance against the plots of the enemies and any ignorance towards this aim will distance us from our Islamic objectives.”
