Iran develops anti-sedimentation agent for oil storage facilities

Researchers in the University of Tehran have developed an agent based on nanotechnology and biotechnology, that may help recycle ooze from oil reservoirs.
Dr. Fatemeh Yazdian, the manager of the project told Mehr News that they managed to develop a biosurfactant, and added that this agent was developed through biological processes and purified through nano-based technology.
“Iron oxide nanoparticles were used in this project. It is biocompatible and does not damage the environment,” she added.
“This product has applications in dredging oil ooze from oil reserves. Using the agent, we can prevent sedimentation of 23 types of oozes in oil reservoirs,” she said.
