Terrorists fail to capture Battalion 82 base for the 3rd time in 72 hours

On Thursday morning in the Dara’a Governorate’s northern countryside, the Islamist rebels from Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) launched their 3rd strike on the southern walls of the imperative Battalion 82 Housing Facility in Sheikh Miskeen.

From the get-go, the Islamist rebels were determined to break-through the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) frontline defenses at the southern walls of the Battalion 82 Housing Facility; however, poor weather, fierce resistance from the pro-government forces, and the Russian Air Force’s lurking fighter jets prevented the Jabhat Al-Nusra and the Free Syrian Army militants from achieving their military objective.

According to a military source stationed at the 5th Armored Division’s headquarters in the city of Izra’a, the Syrian Arab Army and the National Defense Forces (NDF) killed approximately 15 enemy combatants from Jabhat Al-Nusra and the Free Syrian Army before the aforementioned Islamist rebel groups retreated south due to sundown and low visibility.

The Islamist rebels have launched 3 different infiltration attempts in the last 72 hours inside of Sheikh Miskeen – each attack by the aforementioned Islamists was eventually repelled by the Syrian Armed Forces before they could break-through the dilapidated walls of the Battalion 82 Housing Facility. The battle for Sheikh Miskeen is likely to restart in the coming hours, as the Islamist rebels attempt to recapture the key points they conceded to the Syrian Armed Forces last week.
