Afghans protest Quran burning plan

Thousands of Afghans have taken to the streets of northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif to condemn a US church’s plan to burn Muslims’ holy book, Quran.

The protesters accuse the US and German governments of ordering the plan in Florida.

They called on all Muslims to unite against enemies of Islam and break up ties with the US and Germany.

They also urged the immediate withdrawal of the two countries’ forces from Afghanistan.

The protesters called on human rights organizations to prosecute the Florida church officials for insulting 1.5 billion Muslims.

Terry Jones, pastor of Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, is planning to burn copies of the Quran on the ninth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York and Washington.
