Al-Jawshan al-Kabîr 2- A Supplication of the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh)

Al-Jawshan al-Kabīr, which means ‘the strong cuirass or breastplate,’ is a supplication ascribed in a narration from Zayn al-’Abidin, the sor: of Husayn, to his great-grandfather, the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings be upon him).
The supplication consists of many divine naines and attributes, most of which are found in the Qur’an, and its recitation is reputed to be highly meritorious. In recent times, it has been made popular by Bediuzzaman Said Nursi, the author of the Risale-i Nur, a Qur’anic commentary of several volumes concerned particularly with questions of belief. Said Nursi recited the Jawslum regularly throughout his life, and as a source of reflective thought, said that in one respect, the Risale-i Nur had been born of it.
So that with its universal appeal, this matchless supplication may be made available to more people, we are publishing it here in its English translation together with the original Arabic.

11  O My refuge in misfortune;
My Лоре in disaster;
My friend in desolation;
My companion in loneliness;
My benefactor and beneficent friend;
Dispeller of my cares;
My Succourer in need;
My Stronghold in my plight;
My Helper in time of fear;
My Guide in time of confusion—
Glory be unto Thee, Thou art without partner or fault!
There is no god but Thee! Mercy, mercy, deliver us from Hell-fire!

12  О One All-Knowing of the Unseen;
О One Ever-Forgiving of sins;
О Veiler of faults;
O Dispeller of grief;
O Overturner of hearts;
O Adorner of hearts;
О Illuminator of hearts;
О Physician of hearts;
О Beloved of hearts;
О Intimate of hearts—
Glory be unto Thee, Thou art without partner or fault!
There is no god but Thee! Mercy, mercy, deliver us from Hell-fire!

13 O God.’ ι beseech Thee through Thy Names:
One of dory; Most Beauteous;
Trusted Disposer; Ensurer of needs;
О Evidence for the truth;
О Steadier of the stumbier;
О One informed of all things;
О Subtle and Gracious One; Most Mighty;
Sovereign Owner of all things—
Glory be unto Thee, Thou art without partner or fault!
There is no god but Thee! Mercy, mercy, deliver us from Hell-fire!

14  О Guide of the bewildered;
O Succourer of the appealer for aid;
O Assister of the crier out for help;
О Giver of asylum to the seeker of protection;
О Refuge of sinners;
O Forgiver of misdeeds;
О Recourse of the fearful;
O Gran ter of mercy to the indigent;
О Friend of the lonely;
O Responder to the prayers of the desperate—
Glory be unto Thee, Thou art without partner or fault!

15 О ОNе оf munificence and liberality;
О One of boundless grace and bestowal;
О Prolùder of asylum and protection;
О Most Holy, utterly free of fault and defect;
О He who makes manifest His wisdom in all things;
О One of mercy and good pleasure;
О Offerer of certain prooß and evidence;
О One of Grandeur and Sovereignty;
All-Forgiving, Most Pardoning;
Most Gentle, Answerer to calls for aid-Glory be unto Thee,

16 О He who is the Sustainer of all things;
О He who is God of all things;
О He who is the Creator of all things;
О He who is above all things;
О He who existed before all things;
О He who will exist after all things;
О He who has knowledge of all things;
О He who is powerful over all things;
О He who is the fashioner of all things;
О He who makes permanent and brings to nought-Glory be unto Thee,
Thou art without partner or fault! There is no god but Thee! Mercy, mercy, deliver us from Hell-fire!

17 O Godi I beseech Thee through Thy Names:
Protector;
Guardian Defender; Giver of existence; Inspirer;
He zvho makes plain;
Smoother of the rough path;
Adorner of creatures;
Exalter ofthose He wishes;
He zvho causes creatures to assist each other;
О Inibuer of colour and hue—
Glory be unto Thee, Thou art without partner or fault!
There is no god but Thee! Mercy, mercy, deliver us from Hell-fire!

18  О He who abides in His realms
О He who in His glory is mighty;
О He who in His sovereignty is eternal;
О He who to His servants is compassionate;
О He who has knowledge of all things; О He who to those who flee Him is forbearing;
О He who to those zvho make request of Him isgenerous;
О He who in His measuring out is wise;
О He zvho in His judgements is gracious;
О He zvho in His graciousness is powerful—
Glory be unto Thee, Thou art without partner or fault!

19 О Не from whom nothing is expected but grace;
О He who is feared only for His justice;
О He from whom nothing is aîvaited but kindness;
О Hefrom whom nothing is sought but forgiveness;
О He apart from whose dominion nothing endures;
О He other than whose sovereignty there is no
sovereignty;
О He apart from whose proof there is no proof;
О He whose mercy encompasses all things;
О He whose mercy precedes His wrath;
О He whose knowledge embraces all things—

20  O Banisher of cares;
O Dispeller of grief;
O Forgiver of sins;
О Accepter of repentance;
