Al-Nusra terrorists explodes one of the minarets of the Great Umayyad Mosque in Aleppo

The “Free Army” militia and members of al-Nusra Front have exploded today one of the Great Umayyad Mosque minarets in Aleppo, causing huge damages in it.

Breaking News Network correspondent reported that members of al-Nusra have booby trapped the minaret and the southern door of the mosque with large quantities of high explosive materials before they intend to blast it in a new assault on the Great Umayyad Mosque.

As insurgents exploded in last February the southern fence of the mosque with an IED, what resulted in huge material damages.

The mosque has been exposed to an attack in last October simultaneous with the breaking of the armed groups into its sanctity, destroyed its walls, burned its monumental furniture and plundered its contents of scientific and heritage wealth unparalleled in the Arab Muslim World in addition to aggression by burning and cracking the precious archaeological platform..

Members of al-Nusra that deploy in Daraa al-Balad region have exploded a few days ago the minaret of al-Omari Mosque which is considered to be one of the oldest mosques in the Islamic World.
