Syrian Army Intensifies Operation in Dara’a as Reconciliation Plan Fails

The Syrian Army forces have intensified their attacks on terrorist groups’ defense lines in the Southern city of Dara’a after the peace plan between Damascus officials and militant groups failed, city sources reported.

The sources said that Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) has refused to retreat from parts of Southern Dara’a up to the vital passageway of Nasib and rejected to join the peace agreement with the army.

They added that however several militant groups of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) have applied for government amnesty.

In the meantime, field sources said that implementation of the peace plan went unlikely after several cases of terrorist groups’ attacks on residential areas and army continued reinvigoration of its offensive capabilities to enter Southern Dara’a.

Jamal al-Za’abi, who represents Dara’a people in the Syrian Parliament, said that terrorists’ measures and their insistence on attacking civilians have made implementation of the reconciliation plan unlikely.

Field source, meantime, reported that the army forces repelled an attack on terrorists East of the camp area and managed to retake control over lost positions in a rapid counter-attack.

The army has also opened a new front towards Qazi in Eastern Dara’a to separate the Eastern part of Dara’a city from Dara’a al-Balad district.

The army’s artillery and missile units, meanwhile, pounded terrorists’ stronghold in Dara’a al-Balad and al-Manshiyeh neighborhood, while the army aircraft increased their combat flights over Dara’a after the failure of reconciliation plan.
