Ansarullah rebuffs terror label, asserts that inclusion on US ‘friendship’ list poses greater provocation

Yemen’s Ansarullah movement has criticized the United States' recent decision to designate the group as a terrorist organization. The group contends that being associated with the US's list of allies presents a more significant danger than terrorism.

On Thursday, Nasr al-Din Amer, deputy head of Ansarullah’s press service, stated that the United States’ recent designation of Ansarullah as a terrorist organization is destined to be unsuccessful. He likened this move to previous U.S. efforts to challenge the group at sea, which he claims have resulted in failures.

He stated that inclusion on the United States’ list of allies could have entailed greater risks and been significantly more provocative than being designated as a terrorist organization.

Amer stated that the United States is targeting the people of Yemen as a response to their backing of Gaza. He highlighted that this acknowledgment serves as a significant honor for the Yemeni people and plays a crucial role in their continuous fight.

The organization has reiterated that it possesses no investments, bank accounts, or business operations within the United States, and that its members do not visit the country.

**Palestinian Mujahideen Group Considers US Terror Designation a ‘Badge of Honor’**

The Palestinian Mujahideen Movement issued a statement on Thursday, condemning the recent designation, asserting that it constitutes an assault not only on the Yemeni populace but also compromises shared human values. The movement further criticized the designation for exhibiting partiality towards Israel, arguing that it grants Israel additional justification for its ongoing actions against Palestinians in the Gaza region.

The statement asserted that the designation serves as an acknowledgment of the United States’ role as a significant ally in the alleged ethnic cleansing and genocide conducted by Zionist forces in the Gaza Strip.

The Mujahideen have underscored the significant contribution of Yemeni forces in supporting the Palestinian cause, describing their efforts as both commendable and vital in opposing what they term as Israel’s genocidal actions against the besieged and vulnerable population in the Gaza Strip.

The statement further asserted that the recent American decision regarding Ansarullah in Yemen serves as a badge of honor, indicating that the group is aligning correctly with its intended path.

The criticism directed at international organizations for their perceived inaction on the Gaza crisis underscores a stance that the United States’ decision concerning Ansarullah reflects what is characterized as an American and Israeli shortcoming against the resilience of Yemeni resistance.

The declaration highlighted that the true instigators of terrorism are identified as Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his administration. They face allegations of carrying out genocide in Gaza. In contrast, Yemeni forces are portrayed as defenders against humanitarian violations.

The movement criticized the United States’ designation as a misguided endeavor, viewing it as evidence of the enduring resilience of the Yemeni people.

On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump formally classified Ansarullah as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). This move is seen as a strategy to activate its regional allies against Yemen, aiming to compel the Yemeni populace to withdraw their backing for Gaza.

In response to military actions by the Yemeni army targeting Israeli-occupied territories and recent attacks on U.S. Navy warships and vessels linked to Israel since November 2023, a designation has been issued. These operations were conducted in solidarity with Palestinians who have been killed in Gaza by Israeli forces.
