Palestinian Fighters Overpower terrorists in the Al-Zahra Quarter

One Wednesday morning, the coalition of Islamist militias in Aleppo “Ansar Al-Shari’ah attempted another assault on the Al-Zahra Association Quarter inside the provincial capital; however, their attack would hit another brick wall, as the Palestinian forces from Liwaa Al-Quds (Jerusalem Brigades) delivered a powerful blow onto the encroaching enemy combatants near Building 11.

The Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and their allies from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jaysh Al-Mujahiddeen launched their attack at the Great Prophet Mosque in the Al-Zahra Quarter’s northwestern neighborhoods, where they achieved initial success during their infiltration to the Air Force Intelligence building.

However, as the Islamist fighters reached Building 11, the Palestinian soldiers from Liwaa Al-Quds – backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Kata’eb Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions) – pounded the Jabhat Al-Nusra combatants nearing the northwestern corridor with a barrage of mortar shells and gunfire before they were finally forestalled and forced to retreat towards Al-Layramoun.

Following the failed assault on Building 11, Liwaa al-Quds and the National Defense Forces beat back the Islamist fighters from the Air Force Intelligence building and the Great Prophet Mosque, killing over 20 enemy combatants before nightfall reigned over the provincial capital of the Aleppo Governorate.

According to a military source, the Al-Zahra Quarter is 100 percent secured, with no Ansar Al-Shari’ah militias lingering around this part of west Aleppo.
