Assad: Syria Capable of Confronting Israeli Terrorism

President Bashar al-Assad stressed that the Syrian Army is capable of confronting the Zionist entity which represents terrorism against Damascus.

As Assad received the Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Slaehi, he said that the latest Israeli attack on Damascus on Sunday “reveals the extent of Israel and other regional and Western states’ involvement in ongoing events in Syria.”

“The Syrian people and its army who have made important achievements by fighting terrorist and Takfiri groups are capable of confronting Israel’s ventures that represent one of the many faces of terrorism targeting Syria today,” Presidnet Assad told Salehi.

For his part, the Iranian FM denounced the Israeli aggression, stressing that the Islamic Republics stands in front of Syria against the Israeli attempts to mess around with the region and to weaken the resistance axis.

Salehi also assured that it is the time to deter the Zionist entity from staging such aggressions against the region’s people.

Ahead of the meeting, Salehi told reporters in Jordan that there would be unforeseeable consequences if Assad was toppled and only a political settlement to the Syrian crisis would avoid a regional conflagration.

“God forbid, if there is any vacuum in Syria, these negative consequences will affect all countries … No one knows what will happen,” he warned.
