Damascus Terrorist Bombing Continues to Draw Wide International Condemnation

20130223-142132_h468848The International Confederation of Arab Trade Unions condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist act which took place in al-Thawra Street in Damascus on Thursday.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Confederation called upon the international community and organizations, particularly the UN Security Council, to take a clear stand against terrorism.

It stressed that this terrorist act came in the framework of a series of terrorist operations targeting the Syrian civilians and the stability and security of Syria.

It however noted that such acts will neither affect the Syrians’ will nor their determination to achieve the comprehensive national reconciliation and go ahead with the reform process.

Syrian, Arab Communities Abroad Strongly Condemn Damascus Terrorist Bombing

Meanwhile, members of the Syrian and Arab communities and the Syrian students in Moscow and in the Commonwealth of Independent States strongly condemned the terrorist bombing.

In a press statement, members of the communities said “We strongly condemn the terrorist attacks perpetrated by the armed groups in Damascus, the land of amity, peace and Arabism which has always been a steadfast fort in the face of the imperialistic and Zionist schemes.”

In the same context, the Syrian and Arab communities in Australia denounced in a statement the terrorist bombing which targeted the civilians, describing this act as one of the tools of the conspiracies hatched against Syria.

They reiterated their standing by the homeland, voicing support for the political program proposed by the Syrian leadership to solve the crisis in Syria.

Sit-in Held in Jerusalem in Condemnation of Damascus Terrorist Bombing

A number of the Palestinians in Jerusalem held a sit-in in the yard of the Resurrection Church in solidarity with Syria and in condemnation of the terrorist bombing which killed scores of civilians. The participants lighted candles, whishing that peace would prevail in Syria.

General Secretariat of Palestinian Writers and Journalists: War on Syria is War against Arab existence

General Secretariat of Palestinian Writers and Journalists denounced on Saturday the terrorist bombing in Damascus, stressing that the war against Syria is war against Arab destiny and existence altogether.

In a statement, the General Secretariat pointed out that this criminal act proves that the colonial states, the USA and the Zionist Entity on top, are working to instigate chaos in Syria.

The statement added that Damascus is the only Arab capital which is still defending the Arab dignity, noting that the enemies of Syria are working to impose their hegemony on the Arab region.
