‘Backing Palestine, key Iran policy’

Iran’s Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani says supporting the Palestinian resistance against the Israeli regime is among the fundamental policies of the Islamic Republic.

Supporting the Palestinian resistance against the aggressive policies of Zionist Israel has been among Iran’s main policies, Larijani said during a Monday meeting with Hamas Political Chief Khalid Meshaal in the Iranian capital, Tehran, IRNA reported.

The Iranian Majlis speaker also pointed out that Palestinians could achieve their rights only by further reinforcing resistance against Israel, adding that all efforts focusing on the Palestinian cause should aim at strengthening resistance against Israeli plots and those of other foreign enemies.

Meshaal, for his part, praised Iran’s initiative to hold the 5th International Conference on Palestinian Intifada as an appropriate and highly significant move.

He also said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always held a logical stance on the Palestinian issue.

He noted that all those who supported the Palestinian nation shared the view that resistance needed to be reinforced. He also praised Iran’s support for the Palestinian resistance against Israel.

The 5th International Conference on Palestinian Intifada opened in Tehran on Saturday with the motto of “Palestine, Homeland of Palestinians.”

It mainly focused on the restoration of Palestinian rights, including their right to return and determine their fate, as well as the liberation of territories occupied by Israel.

The conference wrapped up on Sunday with a statement calling for the liberation of all Palestinian lands and the establishment of a free Palestinian state.
