A number of Iranian children’s books translated into Spanish are slated to take part in to the 37th Montevideo International Book Fair in Uruguay.

Some 44 Persian children’s books have been selected by an Iranian Institute, El Faro Children and Young Adults Group to participate in the event.

El Faro group has been established by Fundación Cultural Oriente (Oriental Cultural Foundation) in the central Iranian city of Qom.

Mostafa Rahmandoust, Ahmad Arablou, Reza Mozouni, Mehdi Shojaei, Mehdi Hajvani, Anahita Teymourian, Zohreh Parirokh and Mehdi Rahimi are among the Iranian writers whose creations will be displayed at the Uruguayan fair.

The books have been translated into Spanish by El Faro in collaboration with Iran’s Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA).

Divergent Iranian children books have attended many International exhibitions so far.

The children’s literature in Iran has a very old history which dates back to more than 3000 years ago, when the first Persian families narrated rich oral literature through lullabies, folktales, rhythmic fables.

The 2014 edition of Montevideo International Book Fair is scheduled to be held in Uruguay from October 1 to 12.
