Major General Mohsen Rezaei, former chief commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says Iran and the resistance front are “on the verge of a great victory” that will result in the withdrawal of the United States and its allies from the West Asia region.
Rezaei, who currently serves as secretary of Iran’s Expediency Council, made the remarks at a news conference in Lorestan on the occasion of Sacred Defense Week on Sunday.
He said Iran has entered a new phase in which it should use the experience of the Sacred Defense against the ex-Iraqi regime’s eight-year war, noting that, “This victory will be very important and great because West Asia will be liberated from the clutches of” Western powers.”
The former Iranian commander further said Iran has never wanted a war, but when its enemies assassinate the country’s guest in the capital Tehran, the Islamic Republic should definitely respond.
Rezaei also noted that, “In recent years, the enemies imposed economic sanctions against Iran and faced resistance from the people, so now they want to use military means and force the country into a war.”
He also stated that the US and Israel are seeking to drag Iran into a regional war by targeting Lebanon but the Islamic Republic and the resistance front “will not allow the Israeli prime minister to enter wherever he wants.”
Separately on Sunday, Rezaei said in a post on his account on X that the Lebanese Resistance movement Hezbollah has an almost inexhaustible manpower.
He made the remarks after Hezbollah targeted the Rafael weapons manufacturing facility in Haifa in an “initial response” to Israel’s recent mass terrorist attack in Lebanon earlier in the day.
Rezaei referred to the recent conflicts between the Israeli regime and Hezbollah, noting that the occupying regime “spent its 20-year intelligence and influence efforts on Hezbollah in a few days.”
“Hezbollah is a man of innovation, creativity and flexibility and the depth of its manpower will not be exhausted for the next hundred years,” he said.
