Bombings kill over 30 Muslims, injure nearly 100 in Iraq

More than 30 people have been killed and nearly 100 others wounded in several attacks on Muslims in Iraq.

Iraqi security and medical sources said two roadside bombs targeted Muslims near a restaurant in the city of Hilla, killing at least 26 people and wounding about 85 others.

Reports say the victims of the bombing in Hilla included two women, three children, two medics and a civil defense member.

Iraqi security forces have cordoned off the bombing area and stationed checkpoints across the city.

Meanwhile, another car bomb attack claimed the lives of at least six people and wounded over a dozen others in the holy city of Karbala.

Police sources said Iraqi security guards closed all the roads leading to Karbala.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the bomb attacks.

The recent attacks marked the second round of bombings against Muslims this week after three car bombs near places of worship in the capital, Baghdad, killed 23 people and injured dozens of others on November 27.

Bombings and shootings have recently increased across Iraq, and many believe the attacks are being carried out to undermine the central government.

In response, the Iraqi government has stepped up efforts to increase security across the country over the past few months.
