Syrian army kills scores of militants in new ops across country

Syria’s army units backed by fighters of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah have carried out pervasive operations across the war-stricken country, killing dozens of Takfiri militants, making fresh gains against terror groups, and foiling several infiltration attempts.

Citing unnamed Syrian military sources, Syria’s official SANA news agency reported Sunday that an army unit in cooperation with Hezbollah fighters took control of Darb al-Sham and Boukin hill around the southwestern city of Zabadani, near the border with Lebanon, and tightened their grip on Zabadani plain.

At least 20 terrorists, including two prominent figures, were killed while trying to flee the flashpoint city. Large quantities of the militants’ weapons and munitions were also destroyed in the joint operation.

In the northern Aleppo province, all members of a Takfiri group were killed while they were trying to infiltrate from Khabieh market into Sweiqeh area located in Old Aleppo city.

Various terrorists’ positions across the strategic northern city of Aleppo were also shelled, inflicting losses and injuries on militants.

Gatherings of the foreign-backed al-Nusra Front terrorist organization were also targeted in the towns of Bianoun, Hayan, Ritian and Hreitan as well as Qal’et Najm village in the northern countryside of Aleppo province.

In eastern parts of the northwestern province of Idlib, Syrian air forces targeted gatherings of militants and destroyed their vehicles that were equipped with heavy machine guns.In that operation many terrorists from the al-Nusra Front and Ahrar al-Sham terror group were killed.

In the far north of the southwestern province of Dara’a, army units carried out operations against terrorists of Jabhat al-Nusra in Kafar Sham town, killing scores of terrorists, injuring dozens others and destroying many militants’ vehicles.

In the same province, an army unit managed to destroy terrorist hideouts and inflict heavy losses to their ranks in al- Na’ima town.

Terrorists’ hideouts and vehicles were also destroyed in al-Zaitoun fields, al-Sad Road in Daraa al-Balad neighborhood and the area surrounding al-Quneitra school in al-Naziheen Camp in Dara’a province.

Scores of terrorists were also killed in the operation.

In the central province of Homs, the Syrian air force targeted hideouts of ISIL Takfiri terrorists in several parts of Palmyra city, killing many militants, destroying their vehicles.

Many more ISIL terrorists were also killed in army’s air strikes in al-Shindakhiyeh al-Janoubiyeh, 70 kilometers to the east of city of Homs.

In several parts of the western province of Hama, army units managed to kill scores of militants, including those with the ISIL group and destroy their hideouts and vehicles.

In the western province of Lattakia, army units foiled an infiltration attempt by militants into villages of Beit Zeifa and al-Rahmaliya in Lattakia northern countryside, killing a number of them.

In the northeastern Hasaka province, an army unit clashed with ISIL terrorists near Hasaka city, inflicting a number of losses on them.

In the eastern province of Deir Ezzor, the Syrian air force destroyed a number of ISIl vehicles, killing many terrorists.

Foreign-backed terrorists began their deadly campaign in Syria in March 2011. The militancy by the Takfiri groups has so far claimed the lives of over 230,000 people, according to the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The UN says over 7.2 million people have also been internally displaced, while more than three million others have fled to other countries due to the intolerable conditions caused by the crisis.
