Iran calls parties that back terrorism in Syria to correct strategic mistakes, stop backing

Speaker of Iran’s Shura Council Ali Larijani has called on regional and international parties that support terrorism in Syria to correct their strategic mistakes and stop backing terrorist takfiri groups which threaten the region’s security and stability.

Meeting Syria’s Ambassador in Tehran, Dr. Adnan Mahmoud, on Thursday, Larijani stressed the need to utterly turn the page of threats of launching an aggression and war by the United States and the West against Syria and exert efforts to support Syria to restore security and stability.

The emphasis was laid on the political solution to the crisis through a comprehensive national dialogue between the Syrians without preconditions with the assertion that the Syrians should decide their own future without any external interference.

Larijani reiterated Iran’s government’s constant support to Syria in the various political and economic fields for enhancing the resilience of its people in the face of the flagrant terrorist war for more than two and a half years.

He praised the Syrian people’s national unity in facing terrorism to preserve their country’s sovereignty and independence.

He said the main threat to the region lies in the continuation of occupying the Arab territories by the Zionist entity besides its possession of nuclear weapons that threaten the whole region.

For his part, Dr. Mahmoud, appreciated Iran’s leadership, government and people’s support to Syria, especially the Shura Council, whose members inked the list of honor to defend Syria in the face of any aggression targeting it.

He stressed that Iran’s principled positions towards Syria reflect the close link between the axis of resistance in the region, which thwarted all the enemies’ sedition and fragmenting schemes.

The Ambassador pointed out that the strategic relationship between Syria and Iran has always been in the service of the region’s issues and peoples.

” This relationship constitutes a source of strength in the face of all the dangers that threaten the region and deals wisely and through clear vision with the regional and international changes.”Dr. Mahmoud concluded.
