The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a surprise offensive against the jihadist rebels in the northern countryside of the Latakia Governorate.
Led by their Special Forces and Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army began the offensive by firing a plethora of artillery shells and missiles towards the jihadist defenses near the town of Sarraf.
Following the heavy shelling and missile barrage, the Syrian Arab Army began storming the first line of defense for the jihadist rebels near the town of Sarraf; this resulted in the government forces overrunning Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s positions.
According to a military source near the battlefield, the Syrian Army has already destroyed more than 20 trenches belonging to the jihadist rebels, while also forcing the latter to abandon several posts nearby.
The Syrian Arab Army is now heavily targeting the retreating jihadist forces in the area, the source added.
