Gaza hospitals in dire need of medical supplies

374937_Gaza-hospital-patientsMedical personnel working in Gaza hospitals have warned that those wounded during the ongoing Israeli onslaught against the besieged territory are suffering from a dire situation due to a lack of medical supplies, Press TV reports.

The storage of medical facilities in Gaza City is almost empty, and the largest medical complex and central hospital of the city – al-Shifa Hospital – cannot cope with the influx of Palestinians injured in Israeli airstrikes.

Local reports indicate that some of the fatalities occur due to the lack of necessary medical equipment and life support machines.

Gaza medical staff say hospitals in the blockaded coastal enclave are suffering from the lack of electricity.

Palestinian officials have warned that a health crisis is imminent in the Gaza Strip unless serious measures are taken to stop it.

Years of Israeli blockade as well as frequent military campaigns by the Tel Aviv regime have already shattered Gaza’s health care system.

At least 1,942 Palestinians, including 470 children, have so far been killed and nearly 10,000 injured in Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza.

The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, has been launching retaliatory attacks against Israel.

While the Israeli army says around 65 Israelis have been killed in the conflict, Hamas puts the number at more than 150.
