Sheikh Abdurrazaq Calls for Muslims Unity in Unity Week programme in Nigeria

razA lecture on Muslims Unity was delivered by Sheikh Abdurrazaq bn Mas’ud. An Islamic Scholar from Oyo state, Nigeria. This is the second segment of the Third Day of Unity week programme taking place place at Husainiyyah Baqiyyatullah Zaria.
Sheikh spoke on the necessity of unity, on Saturday the 26th of January 2013. He started by expressing the importance of Muslims unity as it was commanded by Allah in his holy Book; he said people do come together for worldly matters such as business or ethnic issues, he however said, Islamic Unity is best of all which can brings different people together. Its s a force which cannot be equated with anything else, as it removes all barriers such as language, color or ethnicity.
He further quotes ’and hold fast to the covenant of Allah and do not be disunited amongst yourselves”. He said this verse calls for unity as matter of necessity, and not doing so will bring nothing to the Ummah except a great loss. He added that sufferings and inflictions of other Muslims must be felt by the rest of Muslims and must rise up in their defense irrespective of where the Muslims may be; our religion is the same and so the our Deity. This, he said, will strengthen the Muslims against their enemies who devise plots against them day and night.
He revisited history of how the Muslims suffered different calamities after the demise of the holy Prophet. He however said, Islam still remains as one as the book of Allah and the hadeeth are still with the Ummah; so Islam did not die with the demise of the Prophet, so the Ummah must unite to defend it.
He added that Muslims must avoid enemies’ mechanism of Divide and Rule base of colour and language ethnic line. Allah says in the holy Qur’an: ‘we have made you into tribes and nations so that you would know one another”. And the hadeeth of prophet said ’there is no different between Arab and non-Arab except with taqwa’.
He further added that coming together does not mean following only one person opinion in religion adding that Muslims must stick to the commands of the Prophet. The victory of Islam is near, and therefore Muslims must discharge their responsibilities and obligations towards it; Muslims also should ask those who know pertaining to any matter in the deen for success, he noted.
He concluded by saying that if Muslims should stick the commands of Allah, the success given to former generations will surely be given to them by the Almighty Allah.
