Iran judiciary chief slams Ban’s human rights remarks

354426_Iran-judiciary-LarijaniIran’s Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani has lashed out at the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon for his recent remarks on the country’s human rights record.

Ayatollah Larijani condemned Ban’s comments on Wednesday as interference in Iran’s internal affairs.

He was reacting to a report by the UN chief that accused the new Iranian government of failing to improve the situation of human rights in the country.

Ayatollah Larijani also rejected the alleged executions of political prisoners and members of religious minorities in Iran as part of the enemies’ campaign of lies against the Islamic Republic.

He stressed that no Iranian has been executed on the grounds of their faith, but noted that the country would punish armed militants regardless of their religion.

The Judiciary chief also rejected the allegations of certain Western countries and international institutions about human rights violations in the country as a big lie.

He condemned the international community for its silence on the human rights breaches committed by the United States and its allies in Afghanistan and Iraq among other countries.

The official also expressed concern that the nuclear talks with Iran might serve as a pretext for the West’s interference in the country’s internal affairs.
