PCAS calls on the world to save Gaza’s children

Popular Committee Against Siege on Gaza (PCAS) called for the immediate intervention of the international community and UNICEF to save Gaza’s children from Israeli infringement of human rights, while urging them to take serious action to meet their responsibilities and ensure that all of Gaza children’s rights are met.

PCAS’s chairman, Hamdi Shaat, said in a press release on the occasion of the Palestinian Children’s Day: “Gaza children’s day is due to be celebrated soon. But our children are still denied their basic human rights including the need to live an innocent and happy childhood, just like any normal child. The situation is becoming unbearable as their little bodies are made to endure starvation and uninterrupted incarceration.

Thousands of children in Gaza suffer from food inaccessibility and lack of medical care because of the siege imposed on Gaza. Just like each and every child in this world, children in Gaza should enjoy their rights to live in dignity and freedom, Shaat further demanded.

“Though Palestinian Children’s day is due to be celebrated soon, Israeli occupation is turning blind eyes and deaf ears to all international treaties and conventions promoting children’s rights. Gaza’s children, at all ages, remain targets of Israeli human rights violations and breaches of international law executed through siege and starvation policies” Shaat added.

“You should always remember that rules and regulations set up by international laws promoting children’s rights do not tolerate any potential breach to the terms of their acts, particularly when it comes to children’s basic rights including medicine, clothing and food,” Shaat declared, calling for the need to immediately lift the siege and stop Israel’s abuse of children’s innocence.

Shaat appealed to Arab and Islamic activist organizations to stand up for the cause through events and activities that disclose Israeli violations of children’s rights along with the imperative to reach the Gaza Strip via aid convoys aiming at breaking Gaza siege and lending a hand to Gaza’s children.
