ISIL’s short-lived offensive in northeast Homs is derailed by the Syrian Army

ISIL) launched an offensive in the northeastern countryside of the Homs Governorate, Wednesday, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions in the Jubb Al-Jarrah District..

ISIL’s offensive began at dawn this morning when their militants began storming the Syrian Arab Army’s positions near the town of Maksar Al-Hossan.

Attempting to advance from the Rahoum axis, the Islamic State forces attacked the Syrian Army’s defenses for nearly six hours today before withdrawing from the Maksar Al-Hossan area due to their heavy losses.

According to a source from the 11th Tank Division, the Syrian Army killed over 15 Islamic State terrorists in under six hours at the Maksar Al-Hossan axis before securing this area.

The Islamic State was attempting to alleviate pressure on their forces near the town of Jubab Hamad; however, this attack changed very little at the northeastern Homs front.
