Fund for Agriculturel Development projects in Syria

In Spite of Foreign interference and unrests Syria government runs the national development projects. President Bashar al-Assad on Tuesday issued on establishing the Fund for Mitigating the Impact of Drought and Natural Disasters on Agricultural Production.

The headquarters of the Fund is to be based in Damascus and it has the right to establish branches in the Syrian provinces

The Fund is responsible for compensating those who are materially harmed for the losses and material damages inflicted on their production due to drought or natural, climatic, environmental and biological disasters.

Agriculture Minister Riyad Hijab underlined that the Decree enables peasants to continue working in agriculture in case they were subject to material losses due to environmental or climatic disasters through compensating them.

The Minister added that the Decree contributes to achieving stability for peasants being the main investors of agricultural lands.

“The money would be distributed to peasants according to definite percentage that could compensate their losses,” the Minister pointed out.
